Frequently Asked Questions About Lessons

Oak Tree Music offers a variety of music lessons including piano, voice, cello, music theory and composition. Contact me to see how we can tailor your lessons to your specific levels and goals.

Yes, you need to have your own instrument in order to practice between lessons and see better results. However, it is ok if you don’t have it for your first lessons. I can assist you on the best options for you. There are good rental options at Long & McQuade if you are unsure about buying.

Just get in touch with me at info@oaktreemusic.ca or call at (778) 223 – 5285 and we will find the best weekly spot for you!

I don’t use the same books or methodology for everybody. I tailor the lessons to every student’s needs. That means that, after our first class and after we set our goals, I will be able to recommend what books are the best for you.

Oak Tree Music groups the trimesters in:
FALL term (September – October – November)
WINTER term (December – January – February)
SPRING term (March – April – May)

SUMMER term (June – July – August).

Every term has between 10 and 13 lessons. A calendar lesson plan will be provided at the beginning of each term. If when seeing the calendar you know that you won’t be able to take the lesson on a specific date, let me know so we
can rearrange it. Makeups after that won’t be guaranteed.

Of course you can! There is no need to start your lessons at the beginning of the term. You can start half way through the term too! You only pay for the lessons that you take.

Oak Tree Music reserves a specific day and time for your lessons. There are no refunds, credits or makeups for students who miss lessons. Lessons might be rescheduled when given at least 48-hour notice and if a space opens up but there is no guarantee.

Oak Tree Music artist coaching includes one-on-one sessions focusing on skill development, performance techniques, and career guidance. On our first sessions we will evaluate your goals together as well as your weak and strong points. Identifying where you are on your career will allow us to set a course to your next big milestone.

If you enrol for a term, the payment for the whole term is due before your first lesson of that term by e-transfer.

Alternatively, you can also send e-transfers month by month. Monthly payments are due the 1st of each month. If you choose this option, please make sure you don’t forget, that causes significant extra administration work.

Please understand that this payment policy is a commitment for both parts. If you fail to comply with the policies your lesson spot can’t be guaranteed.
